Q:
Will there be a re-organization? Who is on the leadership team?
A:
TransPolar proposed an entirely new organization to comply with the RFP and the Statement of Objectives. I cannot discuss the rest of the management team while the competition is open. However, I can tell you that there would be new leaders in key positions to represent our team members and introduce some of the innovations we propose.

Q:
Would our accrued vacation and paid time off be the same?
A:
Under TransPolar, the vacation and paid time off would transfer from RPSC because we want to protect NSF's investment in its workforce.

Q:
Who will we be employed by?
A:
The workforce will be comprised of TransPolar employees and employees of TransPolar subcontractors. Some of the functions will be the responsibility of a subcontractor, and employees working in that functional area will be employees of that subcontractor.

Q:
Will TransPolar have its own payroll and benefits or will it be Raytheon's
A:
TransPolar is a new stand-alone company and, as such, will have its own payroll and benefits. There will be no payroll or benefits connected to the parent companies.

Q:
What will be the impact on our salary and benefits?
A:
I can tell you that, should TransPolar win, we’ve worked hard to ensure consistency and minimize disruptions to the workforce.

Q:
What exactly is TransPolar LLC? Does Raytheon or AECOM run TransPolar?
A:
Neither Raytheon nor AECOM run TransPolar LLC. TransPolar is a stand-alone company that operates independently. AECOM and Raytheon are the financial backing and governance behind TransPolar, but do not run TransPolar’s operation. TransPolar's sole focus will be to support NSF’s Antarctic Program. TransPolar will have its own corporate policies and procedures, independent of the parent companies, yet able to reach back to the corporate technical assets and resources of both Raytheon ($23.2 B) and AECOM ($5.9 B). In addition, the TransPolar team includes major subcontractors such as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Chenega Technology Services Corporation, and The Shaw Group.

Q:
Will I have to re-interview for my job?
A:
Current employees will have to apply and interview for their current jobs because TransPolar is a new company. This is due to federal and state employment laws and regulations that ensure fair competition.

Q:
Why are you the President of TransPolar?
A:
TransPolar’s Board of Managers appointed me President last January. I bring more than 40 years of experience including 18 years of Antarctic experience. I’ve been privileged to serve as the RPSC Program Director since 2006.

Q:
How will NSF make the final decision?
A:
All proposals will be evaluated using the same evaluation factors specified in the RFP. TransPolar has put together what we consider a strong offer based on actual RFP requirements.
